We are pleased to announce a major relaunch of Tidy Affairs, our secure digital legacy platform. First launched in September 2022, Tidy Affairs lets you store important information in encrypted vaults and designate trusted key holders who can access it when the time comes. It is available now at tidyaffairs.com.
Tidy Affairs - secure digital legacy planning
The Problem We Set Out to Solve
Most people have important documents scattered across filing cabinets, desk drawers, and various online accounts. When a loved one needs to find them, the process can be stressful and time-consuming at an already difficult time.
Tidy Affairs provides a single, secure place to organise these documents and ensure the right people can access them through a controlled, transparent process. Whether you are an individual planning ahead, a family coordinating important paperwork, or a solicitor managing documents on behalf of clients, Tidy Affairs is designed to fit the way you work.

How It Works
Tidy Affairs is built around three core concepts: vaults, documents, and key holders.
- Vaults are secure containers for your documents, each protected by its own security question — something personal that only your key holders would know
- Documents are encrypted in your browser before being sent to our servers — we only ever handle encrypted data
- Key holders are trusted people you designate to collect your documents through a secure verification process
When a key holder needs to access your documents, they visit the collection page and go through a multi-step verification process that includes email verification and the vault's security question. With the two-person rule enabled, a second key holder must also approve the request. If you enable the time-lock feature, collection requests are delayed, giving you time to block any unauthorised attempts.
"We set out to build something that gives people peace of mind — knowing their important documents are safe, organised, and accessible to the right people at the right time."
- Matthew Gibson, Director, This Company
Security at Every Layer
Security is not a feature of Tidy Affairs — it is the foundation. Every design decision has been made with privacy and protection in mind. You can read more on the security page.
- Client-side encryption — documents are encrypted on your device before being sent to our servers. We only ever handle encrypted data
- Passwordless authentication — login with passkeys (biometrics or hardware keys) or secure magic links. No passwords to remember, no passwords to steal
- Time-lock on collection — set a waiting period on collection requests, giving you time to block any unauthorised attempts
- Two-person rule — require two key holders to agree before a vault can be accessed, adding a layer of behavioural security
- Comprehensive audit trail — every login, vault access, key holder change, collection attempt and settings change is logged and auditable in your activity log

Zero-Knowledge, Multi-Tier Architecture
All document encryption happens in your browser before anything reaches our servers. We cannot read your documents, even if we wanted to. Decrypting your documents requires three things held in three separate places: your security answer, a cryptographic salt on a separate server, and the encrypted data itself. Breaching any single system is not enough.
Plans
Tidy Affairs offers two plans to suit different needs:
Both plans include end-to-end encryption, the two-person rule, configurable time-locks, collection alerts, check-in reminders, new login alerts, session management, and passkey support. Full details are on the pricing page.
Free access is also available in the UK for people receiving end-of-life or hospice care, those diagnosed with progressive cognitive conditions, and serving armed forces personnel and veterans — gifted through partner organisations and charities.
Built by This Company
Tidy Affairs is designed, developed and hosted by This Company. Since launching in September 2022, we have continued to refine and improve the platform, applying the same approach we use across all our projects: build only what is needed, keep it simple, keep it secure, and make it work reliably.
All data is stored on independent UK infrastructure — not big-tech cloud. Data stays safely under UK jurisdiction, supported by a dedicated, accountable UK team. We maintain a reserve fund equal to 10 years of hosting costs, and we have contractual agreements in place with trusted third parties to ensure Tidy Affairs can continue even in worst-case scenarios.
